THE PROCESS

ULTRA BLACK

Every Ultra Black dial starts with BLK 3.0 as the foundation, absorbing 99.2% of light. The paint was created in the UK by the artist Stuart Semple, after years of experimenting with formulas, then refining it with feedback from more than 1,000 artists. A dial this dark leaves nothing to distract the eye, just the hands moving across it.

Atomized Layer by Layer

Each dial is painted individually with an airbrush, a precision tool that uses compressed air to atomize BLK 3.0 into an even mist. The paint is built up in thin coats, so the surface stays perfectly smooth with no brush marks or texture. Every layer is left to settle, and each dial is inspected before it moves to the next stage.

The Inspiration

Desert Sky Night

Ultra Black was inspired by the desert nights in Dubai. The stretch of uninterrupted darkness beyond the city lights, where the sky opens into pure depth.

Before Dubai became a skyline, it was a horizon of sand and stars, and VALUSIS brings that same unbroken darkness into the dial. Ultra Black isn't just a selection, it's the absence of everything except what matters, where the dial disappears and the hands are all that remain.
